After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, Ms. Niad moved west to Los Angeles instead of returning to her hometown of New York. There, she launched her entertainment career at the Comedy Store, collaborating on comedy material with notable figures like the late Judy Toll and Andrew “Dice” Clay.
Eight months later, she seized an opportunity at ICM, where she came under the mentorship of Dave Wirtschafter, then President of the Motion Picture Literary Department. During her time there, Ms. Niad discovered and worked with talent including Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids), Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge), Randall Wallace (Braveheart, Pearl Harbor), Spike Lee, and Gregory Allen Howard (Remember the Titans, Ali). Within a year and a half, she was promoted after discovering and signing Shawn Levy (Stranger Things, Deadpool and Wolverine), from his 30-minute USC thesis film, and securing for the agency the multi-billion-dollar Stephen J. Cannell Company.
Desiring a closer, more personalized relationship with her clients in a less corporate environment, Ms. Niad transitioned to a management role, continuing to discover and represent remarkable talent. She opened Niad Management where she coached and supported actors like Charlene deGuzman (named one of Rolling Stone’s 25 funniest women on Twitter), Hilary Duff, and Haley Ramm (Light as a Feather on Hulu), as well as screenwriters, authors, and directors such as Orson Scott Card (Ender’s Game), Lee Zlotoff (MacGyver), Lorna Osunsamni (All American on the CW and Netflix) and Michael Lazarou (Stanford Prison Experiment).
Ms Niad ran Niad Management for 23 years until the COVID epidemic when she closed shop and moved to Florida to be closer to family. She continues to coach exceptional actors, by referral only.
"Hollywood offers plenty of people who 'work with actors,' but few of those people are in the same category as Wendi.
She has a remarkable ability to find the very best in actors and help them achieve their goals. I love hiring Wendi's clients again and again. Oh and again."
-Andy Fickman - Producer and Director; TV, Film, Broadway
I've known Wendi Niad for 35 years. She has a keen eye for talent and understanding of how to guide that talent. Her time in Hollywood served her well, so she's familiar with the challenges of refining good work and helping it get recognized.
- J. Todd Harris, producer of over 50 feature films and Broadway
Thirty years ago, I came across a short film called El Mariachi, written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. The first agent I showed it to passed on it, but I believed they were wrong. So, I took it to Wendi, someone I knew had a keen eye for talent. She agreed with my assessment and helped elevate it within the company. Thanks to her, Robert Rodriguez (of Spy Kids and From Dusk till Dawn fame) became a client at ICM.
Even after producing over 26 feature films, including the American Pie and Final Destination franchises, I continue to turn to Wendi for talent recommendations.
-Warren Zide, Producer of over 26 films
I have known few people with the integrity, instincts, and principles of Wendi Niad. I would recommend working with her to anyone!
